Lindsay Smelt – Writer

Lindsay writes short stories, essays, biography and the odd scribble of poetry. In May 2023, he won the Geelong Writers Prize for his short story ‘The Grace of Father Brown’.

Lindsay’s major writing project is a new biography of the nineteenth century Australian poet Adam Lindsay Gordon. His short non-fiction work covers sport and culture, with several pieces published on The Footy Almanac website.

He is a graduate of the University of Melbourne, with degrees in Arts, Economics and French. He is also a graduate of the Australian Writers’ Centre. In his day job, Lindsay works on energy policy for the Victorian Government, with a focus on the grid connection of renewables.

Lindsay lives in Barwon Heads Victoria, on beautiful Wadawurrung Country, with his wife Sarah, their two beautiful girls and a naughty Labrador named Lando. You can follow him on Twitter here.
