This website takes inspiration from a childhood letter of nineteenth century Australian poet Adam Lindsay Gordon. In a note to a pal he described himself as ‘in brief a star, but a wandering one.’
Wandering star is often a negative term but I want to reclaim it for something positive. We are all wandering stars in some way. We should all be encouraged to wander in life.
This website forms part of my wandering life as a writer. In my professional life I have spent over six years working as an economist in various departments of Treasury. I love economics and I love my job. But I also want to write…
One of the strongest threads between the suit-wearing adult Lindsay and the shy primary school Lindsay is the love of writing and reading. In Grade 6, I thought I would become a writer. Then at some point I shelved the project (just like the ambition to be a Formula 1 world champion).
In 2018, I started to think about writing again. In 2019, I started to write. My goal is to write a biography of Adam Lindsay Gordon by 2020. It is also to write and publish other works that drive both internal and external rewards.
Please join me for a wander along my journey in writing. I am keen to learn much from the many people I will meet along the way.
Lindsay is a writer and economist. He lives with his wife Sarah and their young daughter in the beautiful coastal community of Barwon Heads, Australia.
Lindsay is a former committee member of the Adam Lindsay Gordon Commemorative Committee.
